Studies showed that Elderberries block the flu virus from attaching to and entering human cells

New studies showed how Elderberries stop the flu virus entering into your body.

A chemical compound that can immediately immobilize the flu virus has been identified by the scientists.

Studies done prior to this study showed that elderberry extract has the ability to ease flu symptoms and reduce the illness duration in half. And the new study confirms and explains how the ancient elderberry remedy works.

Elderberries have unique phytochemicals that can be found in them, which can block the virus from entering or even attaching to our healthy cells when taken preventatively during flu season.

This compound prevents the virus from replicating. Even after the flu has taken hold. This will eliminate symptoms within 48 hours.

Researchers used commercially farmed elderberries for this study. Those elderberries turned into juice serum. Then the serum was applied to cells before, during, and after the cells have been infected with the influenza virus.

Dr. Golnoosh Torabian said the result was a “Potent direct antiviral effect against the flu virus. It inhibits the early stages of infection by blocking key viral proteins responsible for both the viral attachment and entry into the host cells.”

The extract stimulates infected cells to release cytokines, which is a chemical messenger that the immune system uses for communication between different cell types to aid in coordinating a more efficient response. And the extract was also effective at fighting the virus at later stages of infections.
